Case Notes
Eight months after open rhinoplasty, you're looking at what dorsal hump reduction, tip work, and corrective osteotomies can accomplish in a patient in her early twenties. The open approach gave Dr. Pathak direct access to the nasal framework, which is why it's often chosen when multiple structures need to be addressed in one procedure. Hump reduction lowers the dorsal line by removing excess bone and cartilage; the osteotomies then close the open roof that reduction creates, bringing the nasal bones inward. Tip refinement addresses the lower lateral cartilages separately.
The after photo, taken at the eight-month mark, reflects a point in healing when most post-operative swelling has resolved.
